In TV lighting, especially in studio lighting, the use of "hard light" and "soft light (soft light)" is different from stage lighting. Hard light generally refers to the kind of light with strong direct radiation, large difference between the light and shade of the subject, brighter highlights, and clearer shadow edges; on the contrary, soft light generally refers to the light with strong scattering, small difference between the light and shade of the illuminated object, Light with softer highlights and softer shadows. But for TV stations, the lighting of different program types has its own rules. For example, the lighting of small studios used for news programs and talk shows are different. The lighting of these small studios generally requires the anchors, guests and other people to have a softer face and the whole person, and do not appear blunt shadows and black areas. Therefore, soft light is generally used, and the degree of diffuse reflection of the lamps is relatively large.
On the theatrical stage, the soft light used is somewhat different from the soft light used in TV lighting. Generally, a threaded LED spotlight called "soft light" is used, and the output light belongs to the soft light (soft light) series. Use it as top light in the middle of the stage. However, it is different in TV lighting. If a threaded spotlight is used as the front light, the shadow of the illuminated object is still a bit hard, and the shadow edge is still relatively solid. This kind of lighting effect is not suitable for the picture requirements of news or interview programs. The surface lighting of the program generally uses lamps with stronger diffuse reflection effects such as LED tri-color soft lights, and this threaded spotlight can only be used as a backlight lamp for character modeling. The same lamps and lanterns are used differently in different occasions
